Happy Halloween!!

Tonight is Halloween and I am home handing out candy to the little kids in the neighborhood.  Tomorrow night I am going downtown to listen to dueling piano's at the "Shout House".  We are all dressing up!  Wahoo!  It should be a lot of fun.  I still need to find a costume though!

On a side note...I just finished an AMAZING book.  "The Hidding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom.  I would advise anyone to read it.  It is about a Christian family (the Ten Booms) who helped save Jewish people in WW2.  The family was caught and Corrie and her sister were sent to a concentration camp.  The rest is for you to read about...sooooo good!

I leave for Minnesota on Thursday and am super excited!  I can't wait to hang out with friends and family.  I will update soon!

Last Night of Being 21...

As the heading suggests...it is my last night of being 21.  The big 22 tomorrow!  One year older!  It is crazy how time flies when you are having fun!  I just got back from a GREAT weekend of visiting my best friend from high school Corinne!  We got to do a lot and the best part was Alcatraz!!  Lots of fun.  I also got to see my friend Martha who drove down from UC Davis who went to high school with Corinne and I as well  AND a friend Natalia from Minnesota!  Lots to do in one weekend!  It was a fun time.  The best thing is that I am giving myself the day off of school tomorrow for my birthday and even treating myself to a trip to Minnesota in a little over a week.  I am the traveling woman!  Well, I just thought I would write about my last night of being 21!  Yikes...life is going by so fast!  Until next time...when I am 22...Peace and Love my friends!

Mark 14:36

"Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me.  Yet not what I will, but what you will."  Mark 14:36

How often do we ask God to take away pain in our lives?  We have stress at work, our health goes bad, our relationships have gone astray and we just want to escape.  We try to run or turn away.  Even Jesus in his last hours cried out to God to save him.  We can all cry out to God.  He wants up to approach Him in good times and in bad.  The key is: at the end of all of our frustration, tears, anger, resentment, or whatever it may be, we must say just as Jesus did, "Yet not what I will, but what you will."  Though Christ had to die, it was for the salvation of us all.  Sometimes we cannot understand the pain and suffering of our problems.  At times we cannot look past the problem, but God has a plan and though it may look bleak right now, He will use it for good in the end.  I have seen this in my life and I know it is true.  There were times when I was very low.  I didn't understand why God would allow the things that took place to happen.  I still do not have all the answers, but I know that Romans 8:28 is true.  It says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."  If I did not go through my pain I would not be where I am today and I could not reach out to others in the same way.  Though I wish I did not have to go through it, it has helped me become stronger and drawn me closer to my loving God.  I hope that if you are in a spot today where you feel hurt, confused, frustrated, sad, or just don't understand what God is doing in your life...first pray about it.  Call out to God through song, reading your Bible, taking a walk with the Lord, or whatever works best for you.  Give Him your pain and suffering.  He knows what you are going through and he will "never leave you nor forsake you" Hebrews 13:5
Peace be with you friends

October here I come!!

Not much has changed since I wrote last.  I am still plugging away at school and it is going really well!  Actually...a lot better than I had planned.  Going to school three days a week is great, but I do have a LOT of homework!  The band I sing with the "Credentialed" are starting to practice again and I am really excited about that!  We are going to try some new songs this year and will be playing at the Belly Up a few times (I will post dates when I know more)  I am still doing a lot with church and my mom and I are really enjoying our Bible Study.  I also am in a small group on Sunday nights with a few people my age and like that a lot.  Thats enough of an update...now on to the FUN stuff...
